Gripping. Garish. A technicolor dream. That's how I felt after
a recent exhibition by the exciting artist, Susanne Morning. In
most of her work, over-the-top color co-exists restively with
geometric form. Though color, for the most part, has the upper
hand; globes, squares and other reminders of rational form populate
the canvas. As Morning herself admits, a Fauvist influence is
clearly present. Indeed darkness and negativity are virtually
absent. If there's a social statement to be found in her work,
it's in the kaleidoscope of color, where each part of the spectrum
is given its due. No hierarchies here. Democracy rules. In short,
Morning's work deserves our attention. Get ready to be snatched
up by the winds of the spirit.
